Statement on Recent Tragic Events
Parker, CO — I am deeply saddened by the recent deaths of two individuals in Minneapolis, including a mother and a healthcare professional who was a nurse serving our military.
As someone who works in care, I spend every day alongside nurses, clinicians, and medical professionals who dedicate their lives to caring for others. The loss of a fellow provider and a parent is devastating, not only for their families but for the communities they served.
These tragedies are a reminder of the real human cost when violence occurs and when systems meant to protect people fall short. Healthcare workers, veterans, and families deserve safety, dignity, and leadership that takes their well-being seriously.
This moment calls for reflection, responsibility, and action. We must strengthen mental health care, support those on the front lines of service, and ensure accountability and transparency in all institutions entrusted with authority.
My thoughts are with the families, loved ones, and communities grieving these lossesb. We owe them leadership that is steady, thoughtful, and committed to preventing tragedies like this from happening again.
